The Museum of Wisconsin Art, or MOWA for short, is home to more than 5,000 contemporary and historical artworks from over 350 artists, all tied to the State of Wisconsin. The focus of this museum is on Wisconsin art and artists, both current and historic.

2. Have a Beary Good Time at Shalom Wildlife Zoo

Shalom Wildlife Zoo is so much more than your average zoo; it has been called “Wisconsin’s Wildest Zoo” and “America’s largest petting zoo,” and for a good reason! This incredible zoo features expansive natural habitats for the animals, making it feel more like a park than a zoo; more than 750 animals from 75 species live at Shalom Wildlife Zoo. The zoo is open year-round, and you have the choice to walk through or drive your car on the four miles of gravel roads that go through the zoo. Golf cart rentals are also available during certain times of the year.

Shalom Wildlife Zoo is the perfect day trip for all the animal lovers out there, and it makes an excellent adventure for families with younger children!

3. Stop and Smell the Flowers at the West Bend Labyrinth Garden

Less than a 10-minute walk from The District, you will find yourself in an urban oasis! Regner Park in West Bend is home to the West Bend Labyrinth Garden, an earth sculpture created in the seven-circuit Cretan labyrinth traditional style with a diameter of 90 feet that is home to a variety of grasses, bulbs, perennials, and annuals. The West Bend Labyrinth Garden is a beautiful place to go outside and get some fresh air or take the family out for a quick afternoon walk!

4. Get Lost in a Good Book from the West Bend Library

The community of West Bend has an amazing local library–just one of the many perks of living in West Bend! With books and more for all ages and interests, everyone is sure to find something at the library.

West Bend’s library also offers programs tailored to children and teens, promoting literacy, education, and fun for kids in the local community. A variety of book clubs are also organized through the library; these book clubs are a great way to meet new people in the community and read through some of your new favorite books!

5. Immerse Yourself in the History of West Bend at the Tower Heritage Center

The Tower Heritage Center will transport you back in time through West Bend’s rich and vibrant history. The museum features exhibits that will interest visitors of all ages–they have a 27 room Zinn Dollhouse, a real wigwam, a fur trading post, and more for the kids!

The history of West Bend–from the Ice Age to the modern-day–is on display at the museum. Learn about the glaciers that give Washington County its beautiful landscape, presidential connections to Washington County, the history of the West Bend Company, and more!
